Northwest Naturals Raw Pet Food Recall: What You Need to Know

If you feed your pet raw food, a recent recall from Northwest Naturals demands your attention. This situation affects pet owners across the country and requires immediate action to keep your furry family members safe.

Why This Matters

Raw pet food products carry inherent food safety risks that differ from traditional kibble or wet food. When a recall is issued, it typically indicates potential bacterial contamination—such as Salmonella or E. coli—that could harm both your pets and your family. Understanding the scope of this recall helps you make informed decisions about your pet's nutrition moving forward.

Before purchasing Northwest Naturals raw pet food, verify the product batch number and manufacturing date against the company's official recall list on their website, as recalls for raw pet products can vary by lot number rather than affecting entire product lines. Check customer reviews posted after any recall announcement to see if other buyers have reported issues with recently received shipments.

What Pet Owners Should Know

• Check your freezer immediately for any Northwest Naturals products you currently have at home
• Visit the FDA's official recall database or Northwest Naturals' website for the complete list of affected product batches and lot codes
• If you have recalled products, dispose of them safely (don't donate or leave in regular trash where pets or wildlife could access them)
• Monitor your pet for signs of illness including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or loss of appetite, and contact your veterinarian if you notice any changes
• Keep receipts and packaging if you need to contact the company for refunds

Our Product Recommendations

If you're reconsidering your pet's food options, here are some alternative approaches worth exploring on Amazon:

• High-Quality Commercial Raw Food Alternatives — Search for "veterinary-approved raw pet food" or "high-pressure pasteurized pet food" to find brands with rigorous safety testing and temperature-controlled processing
• Freeze-Dried Raw Pet Food — Look for "freeze-dried raw dog food" or "freeze-dried raw cat food" as a safer alternative that maintains raw food benefits with reduced bacterial risk
• Prescription or Veterinary-Formulated Diets — Search "vet-formulated pet food" for options your veterinarian can recommend based on your pet's specific health needs

Bottom Line

Always prioritize safety when selecting your pet's food, and don't hesitate to consult your veterinarian about the best nutrition options for your individual animal. Staying informed about recalls and maintaining open communication with your vet ensures your pet stays healthy and happy.
